Gore Mutual Insurance Company Foundation in cooperation with Newman Oliver & McCarten Insurance Brokers Ltd., is proud to make a donation in the amount of $1000 to The Bridge Hospice. Funds will be used to build and equip a hospice in Warkworth, Ontario.

2011 W8 Run a Great Success!

The 7th annual Run for The Bridge Hospice held this last Saturday was a great success. The event was organized by Bryce Miller, Brenda Partridge and Martin Hare.

It was a perfect sunny autumn day; there were 76 participants.

  • 13 k – 22 men, 12 women
  • 5 km – 13 men, 21 women
  • 1 km – 8 children

The youngest racer was 7 and the oldest 69.

The Dinkel family had 3 generations in the running. Way to go !

Thanks to all the sponsors/donors/volunteers who helped make this happen.

A summary of the money raised will be posted shortly.

The one comment that was heard so many times around the finishing line, once racers had a momentĀ to catch their breath was how much they like the 13k courseĀ - it is challenging and beautiful!

Challenging is an understatement – it is hard to walk, never mind run!

Death. There now, we’ve said it. Not ‘Passing Away’, or ‘Going to a better place’. It’s the end of life and we should be able to meet it with grace and dignity. That belief drove three determined women to campaign for a new residential hospice for the dying in the Village of Warkworth. They succeeded against all odds.

The Sod has been laid at The Bridge Hospice!

Grant from Ontario Trillium Foundation

Mark Darroch from Ontario Trillium Foundation, joins with Lou Rinaldi, MPP to award a three-year grant totalling $188,000 to help with staffing and a new office for The Bridge Hospice. Members of the Board and volunteers are pictured accepting the plaque that will hang proudly in the building upon completion. (Click on either photo to view larger)
